Super Bowl 2014: 10 thoughts on Broncos vs. Seahawks

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks will be meeting in Super Bowl 48, which means the Super Bowl winner will be one of the best teams in the regular season. The game will be played on February 2 at 5:25 p.m. (Arrowhead Time) on Fox. Read on for 10 thoughts about the 2014 Super Bowl.

10. The best offense vs. the best defense. This is the first time the No. 1 offense has met the No. 1 defense in the Super Bowl since Bills-Giants in 1991. This is the reason why this is such a great Super Bowl match-up.

9. Eli Manning won a Super Bowl in Indy, where Peyton played. Now Peyton is trying to win a Super Bowl in New York (err, New Jersey), where Eli plays.

8. Remember when Peyton Manning was a playoff choker? That was the narrative for damn near 10 years before Manning won it with the Colts in 2006. Seems so long ago now.

7. Peyton Manning is trying to become the first starting quarterback to win a Super Bowl with two different teams. Kurt Warner came close winning one in St. Louis but then losing one while with the Cardinals.

6. Russell Wilson will be the sixth quarterback to start a Super Bowl in his first or second season. Quarterbacks in that scenario are 3-2.

5. Percy Harvin is expected to return in the Super Bowl for Seattle. They made it this far without him, so he can't be that important. Or they're just that good?

4. Marshawn Lynch is so much fun to watch. He just never stops moving. Also, big players show up in big games.

3. There is no clear favorite among the 2014 Super Bowl teams. The line opened in some places with the Seahawks as favorites and then swung to Denver and back again. "Seattle opened as the favorite at many locations," RJ Bell of Pregame.com said, "but HEAVY Denver action early now have the Broncos as the clear favorite."    This is a good sign for football fans because it's suggesting a close game, which we all want.

2. Denver was the Super Bowl favorite before the season while the Seahawks were the fourth Super Bowl favorite.

1. The Broncos and Seahawks led the NFL in wins this season with 13. For the first time in 10 years, the Super Bowl winner will have the best record in the NFL.
