I think most of us came to realize that Chiefs didn't have any big playmakers, or any depth at the receiving core this season. The alarming concern would be that Jamaal Charles, your starting running back leads your team in receiving yards. Which to win a Super Bowl that is not going to cut it.
Bowe made some huge plays for us in Colts game, but had that one mistake on the late game drive. By not stepping on sidelines. Overall Dwayne Bowe had a decent year. Made some big catches, but wasn't consistent every week. Your star receiver has to be a reliable weapon for you to win. And that was proven this year. Donnie Avery was in my opinion there most dangerous weapon. A guy that burned the secondary a lot and was a deep threat for Alex Smith. Might need to do a better job catching the ball in tight coverage. But a great weapon in open space. The list is very short for Wide outs on Chiefs depth chart. That has to grow to win next season and in future. My assumption is that they should take a few stabs at getting Sammy Watkins Clemson speed-ster at WR. Who broke an Orange Bowl record in receptions against Ohio State. Another favorite at WR is Oregon Ducks Standout Josh Huff. Who led Oregon in receiving yards this season.
Now we need to bring up the Tight Ends. Anthony Fasano amd Sean McGrath were hot targets for Smith this year. Tight ends aren't as a big of a need as Wide Recievers are. But one or to more can always help. Eric Ebron from North Carolina is a great pickup in Draft if they can get him. Though he might already be picked by the time Chiefs draft at 24th. And also they can always get bonuses from trades. Like they got from Fasano and Avery. Chiefs need to atleast take notice of their receiving struggles. But one thing is most likely for sure. Chiefs need to look at offense in draft this year more than they have been.
