This is my first fan post so take it easy on me...
1. The the whipping the Chiefs just put on Jacksonville in Florida...we have had our struggles in the sunshine state.
2. I knew our Defense was going to be good this year but they exceeded expectations in this game.
3. No huge returns by our special teams. Still think they are going to be great this year and win at least one game for us.
4. And this is what surprises me the most is the negative posts and comments about Alex Smith and the offense.
How soon some forget just how bad we were in the red zone and turning the ball over last year. Alex Smith isn't going to ever be an elite QB that takes over games and wins them with his arm. He is going to be a QB that makes smart decisions and doesn't lose games and can score TD's in the end zone as he showed us today.
Our offense looked a little flat in the second half but with a nice lead and a defense that wasn't giving up anything Alex was even more careful than he normally will be (I hope). I'm sure that Andy called a more conservative game in the second half also. I feel the Jags D isn't nearly as bad as last year and looked like they did a fair job of covering our receivers down the field.
So lets give this team a few more games to decide what our offense will be and how they are going to play. After all it is a new system with new coaches, QB, TE, FB and WR other than Bowe. It is going to take them awhile to get use to each other and figure out what they do well and what they struggle with. I thought our line did a pretty good job of protection with one starter out and a rookie starting on the right side. They are only going to get better and create more holes for Jamaal to run through and more time for Alex to throw the ball.
But for anyone to complain about a 29-2 victory on the road in a state we haven't had much success in is just being a bit to picky and hard on a team that is just trying to find their identity and learning to play together as a team.
Cheers. GO CHIEFS!!!!
