The Arrowhead Award for week four is going to Alex Smith. I’m ready to take flack for this one due to the two picks but hear me out. In addition to the two interceptions the stat line looks like this: 24/41 288 yards 3TDs. What the stat line doesn't show was Smiths willingness to make the throws. He wasn't taking the easy check down all day. He pushed the ball and made some throws into tight windows. It’s what he needed to do. The Giants shut down the Chiefs run game daring Smith to beat them and he did just that. Of the five leading yardage passers to this point of the week Smith is the only QB with a win. He is also leading the league this week in TD’s with three. I encourage him to enjoy those stats until the other Manning plays.
I was tempted to award Sean McGrath the award this week with his five catches for 64 yards and a TD. A hell of a performance for a third sting tight end that was cut at the beginning of the season and Dexter McCluster gave me 86 reasons to pick him. Great team win today!
