Kansas City Chiefs' Justin Houston is the player of the week in the AFC

The KC Chiefs have an award-winner on their hands. Linebacker Justin Houston has been named the AFC defensive player of the week after Week 1.

The Kansas City Chiefs put out a dominating performance in Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, pitching a defensive shutout with the only Jaguars points in the game coming off a blocked punt. The Chiefs won the game 28-2 and one Chief in particular is being honored.

Justin Houston, who stood out among one of the Chiefs best defensive efforts in recent memory, has been awarded the AFC player of the week award from the NFL.

Hooray! Celebrate! Houston ended with three sacks on Sunday in Jacksonville, including one over No. 2 overall pick Luke Joeckel. Houston is tied for the NFL lead in sacks right now with three. He appears primed to have a monster season and if he keeps it up he will challenge the sack title this year.

Unfortunately, Houston has to share this AFC player of the week award with Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning, who won the offensive version of the award.

Rotoworld recently listed the Dallas Cowboys, the Chiefs Week 2 opponent, as one of three offensive lines that are in trouble.

Soo, same time, same place next week?
