I kept thinking this while watching the Jags game last weekend. We were basically the jags last year. I think we have better players but it didn't matter because our QB situation was so bad. You wouldn't know it but the law firm is actually a very talented rb not as good as Charles but he is definitely no slouch, but the Chiefs contained him easily because Gabbert posed no threat at all, kind of like us last year if they could shut our run game down which isn't easy we lost the game had absolutely no chance because Cassel or whomever else they found to play QB that week couldn't get it done. On top of that other then Bowe it seemed like no WR had the talent or really cared, multiple drops, which many ended up as a pick 6 for our opponents. Now I'm not saying Alex Smith, is Aaron Rodgers, but he is a good QB, and hes actually a very good fit for this team, he makes very few mistakes, he mobile and very accurate. He doesn't need to bomb the ball 50+ yards because we have a top run game and our defense is good enough to keep it close.
I actually felt a little bad for the Jags fans, because we know that pain of watching you team struggle behind a terrible qb, while all the fans call for their head, then you cling to the slightest hope, i've heard many Jags fans wanting Hene to start almost like our fans calling for Stanzi or Brady Quinn to play last year none of them are franchise type quarterbacks. The thing about Alex is he gives us options, we can pick up a guy like Bray and develop him or possible another guy next year who knows. As long as Alex stays healthy I think he will continue to be a good quarterback.
