What can Andy Reid DO to make Alex Smith an Elite NFL QB? Win NFL games.
"Asymmetric warfare" can describe a conflict in which the resources of two belligerents differ in essence and in the struggle, interact and attempt to exploit each other's characteristic weaknesses. Such struggles often involve strategies and tactics of unconventional warfare, the weaker combatants attempting to use strategy to offset deficiencies in quantity or quality. Such strategies may not necessarily be militarized. This is in contrast to symmetric warfare, where two powers have similar military power and resources and rely on tactics that are similar overall, differing only in details and execution.
The term is frequently used to describe what is also called "guerrilla warfare", "insurgency", "terrorism", "counterinsurgency", and "counterterrorism", essentially violent conflict between a formal military and an informal, less equipped and supported, undermanned but resilient opponent.
What does a 2-14 team have to do to win in the NFL? Trickeration, Scheme, Better players, Better leadership, all of the above, and More.
Is it even possible in Todays NFL to beat better teams with sub-par players? I guess it depends on whether those players are Lineman or Playmakers. The Chiefs have a wealth of talent in the Trenches. John Dorsey has added to that this off-season, the Chiefs have depth on both lines.
What has been lacking is the play of the players behind the trenches.
The Defensive side of the ball is not getting sacks of the QB and the secondary is not getting turnovers.
Bob Sutton is planning on using un-conventional warfare to make that change. Eight Defensive Backs or Four it really doesn't matter. One Defensive lineman or Two might be not so unusual for the Chiefs on passing Downs. Buddy Ryans' 4-6 is not a staple in the NFL and the Chiefs will utilize it when needed this 2013 season. Will we see 4-3 Fronts? Every available Defensive Back on Deck? Maybe every Defensive Lineman will be on the field. How do opponents plan for what the Chiefs have "Shown" in camp to date?
The Offensive side of the ball is even more of a conundrum. The Chiefs could not score though they moved the ball well last season. Turnovers are the "Mindkillers".

Andy Reid has added TE's and Fullbacks, Jon Dorsey re-signed Dwayne Bowe and signed Donnie Avery. The two new QB's are going to have to be far different in production than what the Chiefs had in 2012. The Chiefs have displayed the "Pistol set" and hired a coach to teach it this off-season. The Chiefs have displayed the Diamond backfield formation and have shown Jamaal Charles in every offensive play-maker position except TE. Andy Reid is going Deep with Dexter McCluster and Wide with Travis Kelce.
There is a reason that many National pundits like the Kansas City Chiefs, they liked the Chiefs last year too. The Difference is that the 2012 Chiefs Talent now has leadership, scheme, and the "Will" to be unconventional in the actual games.
We are going to "Bushwhack" some teams this year and we are going to "Beat the Crap out of them" too.
