FIRST HALF

With Dexter McCluster and Quintin Demps out of the game, Devon Wylie gets the first shot at kick returner. And promptly fumbles it. However, replays showed his elbow was down before the Steeler knocked it out, reversing the initial fumble ruling.

1st offensive drive

We have a reception by a wide receiver: Alex Smith found Donnie Avery for a first down on the second play from scrimmage. On the next play, Smith found Avery for nine yards. Jamaal picked up the first down with an 11-yard run on the following play.

Alert: Dwayne Bowe's first catch of the preseason. A quick in for six yards.

3rd-and-7: Alex Smith sacked. He was in shotgun and the receivers were well-covered. The pocket collapsed on him.

Result: Punt

Brandon Flowers made an excellent open field tackle on the running back. Tyson Jackson either blew that play or he was held.

Donnie Avery got open down the field on a deep curl but Alex's pass was just a bit too high. Incomplete.

3rd-and-15: Alex steps up in the pocket and finds Junior Hemingway for the first down. Hemingway bobbled the ball after hauling it in but held on. Chiefs were 0-for-3 on third downs before this.

Chiefs eventually have to punt it back.

4th defensive drive

Steelers starting from their own 20-yard line.

Brandon Flowers makes an outstanding play to knock the ball away from Emmanuel Sanders, who almost caught a beautiful pass from Ben.
