How will the San Francisco 49ers treat new Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith?
A "nameless, faceless opponent."
That's what Greg Roman, 49ers offensive coordinator, said about Alex Smith, the 49ers former quarterback for the previous eight seasons, who is now in Kansas City.
Asked over the weekend what it would be like to face Alex Smith, Roman said:
"He's a nameless faceless opponent. Loved working with Alex. Very happy for Alex's success. Very appreciative of all the contributions he made while a 49er. Wish him nothing but the best. He's a fine, fine competitor and quarterback."
Well then.
We can only hope Aldon Smith decides to take it easy on his former teammate.
The Chiefs play the 49ers on Friday night. Visit Niners Nation for the transcript of the entire press conference.
