2013-2014 Season Predictions for Each Starter PLUS Predicted Their Final Madden 25 Rating

Boy am I hungover.... really had a good time last night at the bars. Really can't do anything much else than sit on my lazy ass watching Sportscenter, surfing the web. I sometimes like to ramble and speculate about the chiefs as some of you may know, and I am feeling a bit creative today. So I have decided to have a little fun, and give you a season prediction for all of the starters, and use a madden ratings prediction to project what their rating will be by season's end on the video game Madden 25. This will give you guys a barometer of how I expect a certain player to be seen nationally as a player by season's end. Hope you guys enjoy. Gonna skip the synopsis on positions like fullback and o-line but will give you their predicted ratings.

QB

ALEX SMITH

I truly believe this year we will finally find our "franchise quarterback" since Trent Green back in the early 2000s. Everyone thinks Jim Harbaugh is the only one that can get the most out of Smith, but we're talking about Andy Reid here, who made Kevin Kolb look good enough to be traded for 2nd round pick and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, I mean c'mon. It's obvious that Reid has wanted Alex for a long time, and he really is a perfect fit for Reid's scheme. Reid I think will get more out of Smith than Harbaugh, and show everyone how dangerous Alex Smith, when used properly can be. He can make pre-snap reads, he goes through progressions, he is extremely consistent and accurate with his short to intermediate passes, and he is also surprisingly mobile and athletic, he is a perfect fit for Reid's west coast scheme. This is the year that Alex Smith turns from the "game-manager" label to a borderline top 10 quarterback. I think he will have more attempts this year and will not disappoint us when the game is on the line. He has this type of swagger this year that really excites me, like he KNOWS Harbaugh made the wrong decesion and he's gonna stick it to him by becoming a "franchise" caliber player. Look for Smith to be consistent throughout the year with not having many bad games and no games that wow you either, I think that is one of Smith's qualities -- consistency.

Predicted Stats-

4200 yards 27 TDS 10 INTS 64% Completion Percentage 7.5 YDS/AVG

MADDEN 13 END OF SEASON RATING- 87

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 90, +3

RB

JAMAAL CHARLES

Jamaal is Jamaal, what else can I say. I think Charles was still phenomenal last year but I don't think he had 100% of his agility back from 2010 season. I believe Charles is truly 100% this year and will be more efficient than last year, look for him to have less carries like he did in 2010 and more YPA like he did in the 2010 season. Obviously look for him to get a lot more receptions out of the backfield. Expect him to have another Pro-Bowl year and perhaps All Pro honors. He's gonna be now known as the premier all-purpose dual threat runner/reciever in the NFL. Look for him to also line up in the slot from time to time also.

Predicted Stats-

220 Carries 1320 Rushing Yards 6.0 YPC 75 Receptions 800 Receiving Yards

FB

ANTHONY SHERMAN

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 71

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 80, +9

TE

ANTHONY FASANO

I think Fasano will have a solid year, nothing spectacular, I think he'll perform to the level about what most people expect him to. Good blocker, good red zone threat, not exceptionally fast, decent hands. I don't think he will lead tight ends in receptions but I do think he will lead them in snaps, thanks to his blocking.

Predicted Stats-

45 Receptions 300 Yards 3 TDS

MADDEN 13 END OF SEASON RATING- 79

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 79, +0

TONY MOEAKI

Don't really know what to expect from Moeaki this year. Can he stay healthy? I think this actually finally maybe the year he can and he will play 15 games, sitting one out for a nagging injury. Can Moeaki return to 2010 form where he showed so much potential and upside? That remains to be seen. I think he will have a career year in our tight-end heavy offense and lead our group of talented tight ends in yards and receptions. Alex Smith loves him some tight ends and I think he will spread the yardage out amongst the three quite well.

Predicted Stats-

60 Receptions 650 Yards 3 TDS

MADDEN 13 END OF SEASON RATING- 77

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 82, +5

TRAVIS KELCE

I think Kelce is gonna have a good year for us and become a good weapon for Alex Smith. Is he gonna breakout and become a full-blown star? no. He's still a rookie and he will have some growing to do, he isn't gonna be Ron Gronkowski and put up ridiculous numbers his first year. However, I do think he will be 2nd for TEs in receptions and yards. I think the one thing Kelce will do is put up huge numbers in the red zone though, and amass a very high amount of TDS for us.

Predicted Stats-

45 Receptions 450 Yards 9 TDS

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 83, ??

WR

DWAYNE BOWE-

Like Jamaal Charles, you know what you're gonna get with Dwayne Bowe. Big, strong receiving threat, who is a crisp route runner with strong hands. Bowe will be about as good as he has been for the last couple of years, but I think his numbers will drop due to scheme, and how Smith likes to throw to TEs and RBs. Look for the amount of TD receptions to go up though.

Predicted Stats-

65 Rec 700 Yards 7 TDS

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 88

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 86, -2

DEXTER MCCLUSTER-

I think Mr. McCluster is gonna have a big year playing for us in the slot. I think Andy Reid knows how to use this guy effictively in slot, and knows how to get him in space. Remember, if we hadn't drafted McCluster in 2010, Reid would have with the Eagles. I think we're gonna see more deep-routes by McCluster and a good amount of slot screens, I expect to recieve alot of YAC now having QB who can actually hit him in stride.

55 Rec 730 Yards 1 TD

JON BALDWIN

BUST. Jon Baldwin's gonna be done after this year I predict. Another year of clumpy route running with zero seperation. He is gonna be a bench warmer by mid-season I predict. And gone at the start of the 2014 season. He become a lot like Michael Jenkins, an NFL Journeyman with so much potential, yet such little production.

Predicted Stats-

15 Rec 180 Yards 1 TD

DT

DONTARI POE

Him, Dexter McCluster, and Sean Smith are my picks for players to take their game to another level this year for the Chiefs. I think Poe will be number #1 in that category and turn heads with his athleticism this year. He will be a lot better because of the experience he got last year and having a more natural feel for the game i.e. proper technique getting off blocks, pad height, etc. But I think the reason he will become elite this year is because he has lost 15-20 pounds (was about 350-355) and is now 335. He lost alot of dead weight and it showed last night. Poe still says he can lift the same amount when he was 350, so he lost all body fat. It’s scary to think he’s probably even more athletic than he was when he was at the combine last year. And he still by no means is small 335 is still massive but he is just so quick and powerful, ive honestly never seen a talent like him before (except maybe ngata) i mean just radical. Like Mayock said he isnt just a run stuffer he is a dancing bear. Look for him to make a ngata/wilfork type presence on this line starting this year and years to come. Expect him to be moved around the line a lot too, playing all techniques, 0 tech, 1 tech, 3 tech, and 5 tech.

Predicted Stats-

60 Tackles 5.5 Sacks 3 FF 1 INT

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 78

DE

TYSON JACKSON

Tyson is another player who I think will make a big leap forward in Sutton's 1-gap attacking scheme. I just never though he was used right in Crennel's 2-gap scheme, he seems better suited to use his size and strength to push through one gap and attacking, than holding blocks. That's what made him such a great prospect out of LSU. I think when Jackson saw our nickel package finally on passing situations he showed us that he can create pressure and get sacks, expect more of that this yea again. Expect him to also be his same old self being a good stuffer.

50 Tackles 3.5 Sacks 0 FF

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 76

PREDICTED MADDEN 25- 81, +5

MIKE DEVITO

Expect Devito to be who we thought he was gonna be. Great run stuffer, poor pass rusher. He will be good at stuffing the run, and expect that to be his main job. I really only expect to see him only in 3-4 packages and nothing else but we shall see. Don't be surprised if you see him playing nose tackle a good amount, and sliding Poe out to defensive end.

Predicted Stats-

55 Tackles 0.5 Sacks 1 FF

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 77

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 78, +1

OLB

JUSTIN HOUSTON

Houston wasn't on my list of break-out players because he already broke out last year, I expect him to have a monster season and expect him, DJ, and Poe to be considered our best players on defense, and possibly our 2nd best player behind Jamaal. This is the year where teams will see him as the premier pass rusher on this team instead of Tamba Hali.

Predicted Stats-

65 Tackles 16.0 Sacks 2 FF 2 INT

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 86

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 94, +8

TAMBA HALI

As one star in our OLB corps starts to shine another starts to dwindle. I think this will be the first year people see age taking a toll on Tamba Hali, though he will still be a huge threat rushing the passer. He'll still be solid against the run and sometimes a liability in coverage.

Predicted Stats

50 Tackles 7.5 Sacks 1 FF 0 INT

MADDEN 13 END OF SEASON RATING- 94

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 89, -5

ILB

DERRICK JOHNSON

DJ is gonna be the same old DJ in my opinion, from a talent perspective, great at zone coverage, great at shedding blocks and getting in the backfield. However, I think we will see a drop in production simply because of the scheme change. He'll be having to take on more offensive lineman now that the defensive line wont be trying to hold them at bay, which will decrease his impact on this defense. However, expect him to have a few more sacks.

110 Tackles 4.0 Sacks 1 FF 1 INT

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON PLAYER RATING- 92

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 90, -2

AKEEM JORDAN

I think Akeem just may very well hold off Nico for the starting position he has looked impressive so far from what I have seen. Jordan is good in pass coverage and average in run stuffing, he isn't much of threat as a pass rusher. I still think he will be an upgrade over Jovan Belcher, and could possibly be an above average starter for us.

75 Tackles 1.0 Sack 0 FF 2 INT

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 74

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 77, +3

CB

BRANDON FLOWERS

I think Flowers will be Flowers, close to near shut-down corner whose toughness makes up for his size. He'll have an average season for himself not making much noise because no one is throwing to him, things will be all quiet along Flowers island. Expect to see him play in the slot for a change this year when we play teams like the Broncos.

Predicted Stats-

55 Tackles 0.0 Sack 2 INT 0 FF

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 93

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 92, -1

SEAN SMITH

Am I the only one that thinks Sean Smith is gonna be a straight up stud in Sutton's pressing man to man scheme? The reason why he was average in Miami because they weren't playing him to his strengths where he sometimes struggles in zone coverage, however pressing and man to man is a different subject. I went to camp about a week ago and Smith looked dominant pressing and playing man, he played Bowe extremely well during one on ones where the offense is supposed to win. During that day at camp I never saw Sutton make the corners play zone once. Flowers will be shutting his side like always. Expect quarterbacks to then try to pick on Smith where they wont get that great results. Expect Smith to have a huge year actually holding onto interceptions for once in his career while he makes his first Pro Bowl.

Predicted Stats-

65 Tackles 1.0 Sacks 8 INT 2 FF

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 81

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 88, +7

DUNTA ROBINSON

Dunta is gonna probably be our main nickel corner this season. I think age is catching up with the guy, he is good at run support but is vulnerable to getting burned. We may see him on the outside a little but in nickel and dime packages, he may also play some safety. I think he will also blitz a good amount from the nickelback position in Sutton's scheme. He is criminally overrated in Madden 13 and I expect his rating to drop significantly. I still think he will be solid though.

Predicted Stats-

45 Tackles 3.0 Sacks 2.0 INT 0 FF

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 86

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 78, -8

SS

ERIC BERRY

I expect to see the Eric Berry we saw this rookie year minus the rookie mistakes. Athletically, I think he will be 100% expect him to be a great run stuffer while also being asked to ball hawk and play more zones than playing man to man on tight ends where he struggles. I think we will see Berry's best year as a player expect him to blitz a lot more often too. I think he will be used a little different in Sutton's scheme where he may be asked to sit back and play the deep thirds more often than he was asked when Crennel was running the show.

Predicted Stats-

80 Tackles 3.0 Sack 4 INT 2 FF

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 84

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 90, +6

FS

KENDRICK LEWIS

I think we will see same old Kendrick who struggles on making tackles and is prone to getting beat deep due to his obselete speed. Expect him to make some ball-hawking plays here and there. But I expect Chiefs fans screaming for an upgrade next off-season. Could be our defenses weakest link. Because Kendrick is slow and Sutton likes to call man-blitz plays with one safety deep expect that role to be filled more by Berry and Demps than Kendrick. Could be the weakest link for our defense.

Predicted Stats- 25 Tackles 0.0 Sack 2 INT 0 FF

MADDEN 2013 END OF SEASON RATING- 79

PREDICTED MADDEN 25 END OF SEASON RATING- 76, -3
