Kansas City Chiefs cut CB Buddy Jackson

Charles LeClaire-USPRESSWIRE

Cornerback Buddy Jackson, who joined the Chiefs over the summer, has been let go.

Injured during the early portion of training camp, Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Buddy Jackson has been waived. He joined the Chiefs in the middle of May as a cornerback and nearly made it one week into training camp. He previously spent time with the New York Giants and Indianapolis Colts.

The Chiefs bio of him reads:

Jackson (6-1, 180) originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Indianapolis Colts in 2012. He spent a portion of training camp with the Colts and then joined the Washington Redskins practice squad for the final seven weeks of the 2012 season. He was claimed off waivers by the Chiefs on May 14, 2013. Jackson played collegiately at the University of Pittsburgh. The Plantation, Fla., native prepped at Cypress Bay High School in Weston, Fla.

Jackson went down last week in the pre-training camp period with the rookies. He started training camp working with the injured guys and then returned to the fold over the weekend.

Jackson was more than likely a camp body. You bring in dozens of players like him, hoping a few of them will stick.

Jackson's release makes you wonder who is now being added to the team. Generally a player is cut because a new player is in the fold. We'll wait to hear the news of a new player.
