Can Alex Smith Become a Franchise QB?

It was one of the biggest moves this offseason by Chiefs trading a 2013 second round pick and conditional 2014 third round pick to the San Francisco 49ers for Alex Smith. Oh, and that thrid round pick next year turns into a second round pick if the Chiefs win eight or more next season.

That's a pretty pricey deal for Alex Smith which means he needs to come through and be the QB the Chiefs think he can be. That being said, was there another choice? Matt Cassel and Brady Quinn aren't exactly going to carry a team to the playoffs. In addition, it was a weak draft class for QB's.

He was damn good QB at times with the 49ers but can he be that for the Chiefs?
