More surprising for the Chiefs: 5-11 or 11-5?

Whenever a team goes through a rebuild, it's hard not to be optimistic for what's to come. Whether your team has hired a new exciting coach with previous success (Andy Reid), a new exciting coach with no experience but tons of hype (Chip Kelly), or just a new name ( Rob Chudin...uhh the dude the Browns hired) a new hire can fire up a fan base.

However, this year optimism seems especially high for the Chiefs. Hearing an excerpt from John Clayton today on 610 (didn't catch what it was from but was recent), it got me thinking of this question:

Would you be more surprised to see the Chiefs go 5-11 or 11-5?

After winning 2 games, 5-11 is still leaps better than what we had suffered through last year. Going from 2 wins to 11? Seems absurd. Sure it's been done before (98-99 Colts, 08-09 Dolphins even improved 10 games). However this year, it's seeming more likely the Chiefs win somewhere around 7 to 9 games. Clayton I believe predicted 8.

Personally, I'd be way more surprised for the Chiefs to win only 5 games. Sure, I will be surprised for an 11 win season resulting in the playoffs but not as surprised as only upping our win total by a few. Looking at the schedule and where the Chiefs upgraded their personnel, even the pessimist in me expects 7 wins, barring injury. The optimist can see double digit wins.

Then again, we are all Chiefs fans, and have been conditioned to tread lightly with our expectations.

So I leave it to all of you...
