Sanders Commings injury: Fractured left clavicle for KC Chiefs safety

USA TODAY Sports

On the first day of practice the KC Chiefs had an injury. And it's not a good one for rookie Sanders Commings.

Kansas City Chiefs fifth round pick safety Sanders Commings went down with a left shoulder injury in the first training camp practice for the rookies and quarterbacks on Tuesday and the results are not good.

That's a broken collarbone. Other NFL players with similar injuries have been out 6-8 weeks but obviously I can't say what the case is here. It's a multi-week injury though.

According to reporters on the scene this morning, including Ross Martin of the St. Joe News-Press, Commings went down with the injury in practice on Tuesday morning. He was said to be off for x-rays and we awaited the update. Unfortunately, this is the update.

The Chiefs drafted Commings out of Georgia last April in the fifth round. He was set to compete for playing time at safety, along with Kendrick Lewis, Husain Abdullah and others, but that will be on hold for now.

Missing training camp, if that's the case here, is not good for any players, especially a rookie.
