Chiefs have hired a director of player personnel

Chris Ballard will take on the dual roles of pro/college scouting director per Adam Caplan. He comes over from the Chicago Bears to replace both Phil Emery and Ray Farmer. Emery is now the GM of the Bears and Farmer is now the Assistant GM with the Cleveland Browns. The new role basically puts Ballard as the Assistant GM of the Chiefs. Ballard has 12 years of NFL experience, all with the Bears. Spent 11 years as the southwest area scout and then this past season as the director of pro scouting. Ballard played a important role inside the Bears war room through the years. He was responsible for such selections as Matt Forte, Charles Tillman, Johnny Knox, Nathan Vasher and Tommie Harris.
