For everyone, he is the newly acquired fullback from a trade with the Arizona Cardinals today. The Chiefs traded expendable nickel corner Javier Arenas to the Cardinals for Sherman. Sherman is known as an old school throwback hard nose fullback, who's also a good receiver out of the backfield. Andy Reid would never be satisfied with just a bruising FB, he likes them to possess good hands as well to catch balls and screen passes.
Check out the list of FB under Andy Reid while in Philadelphia. Of all the fullbacks (Reid have shown the tendency of going through quite a few during his tenure in Philly)
Anthony Sherman 5-10, 242 lbs
In 2008, Reid started using more 2 WR and 2 TE formations with the arrival of DeSean Jackson thus seeing less of FB use. In 2009, he completely ditched the FB altogether and started going 3 WR upon the emergence of DeSean Jackson and the arrival of Jeremy Maclin. I think this was the time when shit started to fall out under the Eagles offense. Perhaps Reid finally saw the importance of the conventional West Coast Offense with a FB and 1 TE and with the Chiefs, he wants to go back to his roots. The 3 WR and deep threat long ball shit was what caused Michael Vick, Nick Foles and Donovan McNabb to get hit or sack more.
I have to believe with this trade for FB Sherman, and drafting of another FB out of Kansas St. in Braden Wilson, Reid is surely looking to go back to his earlier days of WCO in Philly.
