I consider myself to be a fairly knowledgeable pro football fan. So like many other Chiefs fans I know, I had a definite opinion as to how Dorsey and Reid should go about finding a QB this off season. I had seen some of the early Geno Smith games last year, including the Baylor game...and I felt that drafting a rookie QB in the first or second round was a no brainer. If not Geno, then some secret scouting report that would bring us an even better rookie prospect. I also am not ashamed to say that I hoped that we would pick up Alex Smith,as a free agent just in case Geno or the rookie QB de jour was not ready for a year or two. Then the news broke that we had reportedly given up a second round draft pick to the niners for the rights to Alex Smith. OMFG. That is the 34th overall pick! I felt like someone who thought that he had a winning lottery ticket in his hand only to find out it expired yesterday. I hoped that it wasn't true. Then I found out that it wasn't true. We also gave up a high pick next year. Did anyone else feel like the universe was playing some kind of giant cosmic joke on us chiefs fans? Jeez! Anyway, after a couple days of shock, I started watching some game videos of Alex Smith. I really saw much more to like than what I had seen of Geno. This is a really good you tube video for those of you like me that had an impression of Alex Smith but had not watched him in many games. As I said before, I consider myself a knowledgeable fan...and as such I will probably always have an opinion. My opinion now is that although I wouldn't have chosen this path, it may very well be the right one. In any case, I think that I will get on the Alex Smith Bandwagon now and avoid the Christmas rush.
