Chiefs Draft picks 2013: Travis Kelce to KC Chiefs in 3rd round

The Kansas City Chiefs have made their second pick of the 2013 NFL Draft, selecting tight end Travis Kelce from Cincinnati. His brother, Jason Kelce, is a lineman for the Eagles.

The KC Chiefs new player is a tight end out of Cincinnati. Travis Kelce is a 6'5, 255 pound tight end who had 45 receptions for 722 yards last for the Bearcats.

This is a very interesting pick with the Chiefs current tight end situation. Anthony Fasano was signed to a multi-year deal just this offseason. Tony Moeaki is entering the final year of his deal. Reading the tea leaves, you gotta wonder about the future of Moeaki, another third round pick, down the road.

Nick Jacobs is 2-for-2 so far on his Chiefs mock draft, correctly predicting Eric Fisher and Kelce. He writes: "Kelce is a mismatch for most defenses. Cincy used him as an motioning H-Back, they used him at tight end, the split him out at receiver. Kelce has serious wheels; he is a big body that can break tackles. And just like Fisher, he has the mean streak when he blocks and I love it."

The Chiefs, armed with eight total draft picks, selected Eric Fisher with their No. 1 overall pick. He will play either left or right tackle depending on the future of Branden Albert. The Chiefs traded their second round pick -- No. 34 overall -- to the San Francisco 49ers in the Alex Smith trade. This pick was the first of two third round picks. The Chiefs also have a fourth, fifth, two sixth round picks and a seventh round pick.

Remaining needs for the Chiefs include a safety, inside linebacker, defensive end, running back and receiver among others. The highest priorities for days two and three of the NFL Draft should be safety, inside linebacker and defensive end.

GM John Dorsey is scheduled to address the media about the pick following tonight's picks.
