Hello everybody, Just wanted to get my fellow Chief's fans opions and ideas. Ok unless you have been living under a rock the draft was last night and KC made Eric Fisher the 1st overall pick. Unfortunataly I did not get to watch the draft due to work, but that doesn't mean that it was not still eventfull. Plenty of trades and surprises. One of those surprises is who wasn't taken.
The one person I really did not see falling was a man everyone has been talking about since the season ended and we finally dropped Matt Cassel. That man is Geno Smith. Many scouts and people, including myself thought that he would for sure be a first round pick. Well instead the Bills throw everyone for a loop and draft EJ Manuel. Anyhow I know this draft was not QB heavy and I understand if a team falls in love with a guy thats all it takes, but what I am trying to say is there are people still on the board that many believed would go round one.
Ok this is where it gets interesting and this is where I want to find out some info from you. KC traded their second round pick to SF for alex smith. My question is... Do you believe that the KC brass would have traded their second round pick if they had known that they would have a chance to draft Geno Smith on day 2? Potentially if they had that pick still all they would have to do is beat out jacksonville and they might have thier younger franchise QB. I am not going to say whether or not I think he can be stud in the NFL. My main thing is a QB with first round talent in the second round would you take him if we still had our second round pick?
I would love to hear your thoughts and input in the comments below. Now let's get ready for day 2 and see what unfolds. Regardless Go CHIEFS!
