DRAFT : Mike Mayock is actually pretty horrible at his job

Over the last 2-3 years I decided that I was more of an NFL Network person. Kiper and McShay annoyed me. Every time Mayock spoke, I felt like he was an advanced level college professor. But tonight. The eve prior to the draft. I studied his last 5 draft charts. And it's actually pretty brutal (against him)

2008

This is still pre-on-line video days. He was probably using DVDs and even VHS's around then. So maybe he gets a break.

WRONG :

-Devin Thomas was a round 1 WR in his eyes. Over DeSean Jackson.

-Ranked Jeff Otah over Ryan Clady

-Ranked Leodis McKelvin, Aquib Talib, Domique Rodgers Cromartie, Mike Jenkins OVER Brandon Flowers (best DB in the draft)

-Ranked Mendenhall, Felix Jones, Jon Stewart, over Jamaal Charles (Best RB in the draft)

-Ranked DaJuan Morgan over Thomas DeCoud.

2009

Okay, so this is when that Youtube era began to start. Especially for Round 1 and 2 players. Let's see how he does.

- Mark Sanchez ( tremendous skills ) over Stafford and Freeman. VERY high on Stephen McGee & Pat White ( compared him to Kordell Stewart with more speed)

- Aaron Curry ( safest pick in the draft) > Clay Matthews ( nickel linebacker ) .

2010

- Gerald McCoy over Suh

- Sergio Kindle over Navorro Bowman

- Tebow ranked as a Top 5 QB

2011

QBS

Quarterbacks
1. Blaine Gabbert, Missouri
2. Cam Newton, Auburn
3. Jake Locker, Washington
4. Ryan Mallett, Arkansas
T-5. Andy Dalton, TCU
T-5. Christian Ponder

(no Collin Kaepernick)

Defensive Ends
1. Robert Quinn, North Carolina
2. Cameron Jordan, California
3. J.J. Watt, Wisconsin
4. Aldon Smith, Missouri
5. Da’Quan Bowers, Clemson

Bruce Carter (North Carolina) > Justin Houston

Note .... won't comment on 2012. Too early.

The main thread I see is that when Mayock decides to gamble on a player - especially on Senior Bowl rants - he can trip on his face.
