It occurred to me awhile ago. When the Bucs and Jets started the process to trade for Revis. Ian Rapaport said it even tonight on NFLTA that the Jets would like to trade up. Especially now that they have more ammo in the draft. And the Jets still have a problem at QB. It has been somewhat rumored that the Jets love Geno. It would please a fan base wanting someone other than Sanchez and Tebow, and to a lesser extent Garrard. We know how that goes. Just replace the names with the usual Cassel, Quinn, Palko.
Now we could definitely ask for number 9 overall and their second round pick, and maybe something next year as well. If they want to give us 13 overall instead of 9 i say take it along with their second, but ask for a 2nd next year for sure. Either way, I'm just getting at a viable trade partner who would make the crowd at Radio City Music Hall happy. With the news of a ballsy trade, and for top QB Geno. And we won't ask for much in return. Just fill out the necessary loss of draft picks from the Alex Smith trade.
With the Jags GM saying they wont trade down, and with their reasonable interest in Geno it makes sense. Could get a minor bidding war going. Again, the key to sealing this possible deal is to not ask for much. Just a high second rounder this year minimum. In doing so, we don't have to trade Albert to get back into the second round. Work on the long term deal. Get his price down. If not, he walks or is traded for real after another franchise tag. Then we could go LT in next years draft. With probably Matthews, Lewan, and another can't miss LT prospect that there is every year.
Besides, if the Jags bite and we only have to move down one and pick up their second! We just moved up from our 34th pick we gave away to the 33rd pick. One can dream.
