We've got Alex Smith lined up already. All we need is for John Dorsey to make the call for Geno at #1 on draft night. How awesome would it be to go from having 0 starting-worthy-QBs to potentially having your QB starter of the present and future taken care of within a few months? Thanks to the new rookie wage scale, we don't necessarily have to play Geno right out of the gate either. HCs play their top picks immediately in the first year anymore because the amount of patience for improvement is very slim. We would be in a unique situation where we could allow Geno to learn the system and to groom him into a starting position. All we would need to do is pick the better of the two and trade off the one we don't want (kinda like what SF or NE did to us). It's obviously not a flawless plan...as Geno is not a solid #1 talent...but I just don't see anyone getting excited about moving up into our top spot. If we can move out and the price is right, I say definitely do it. Otherwise, I think this is the best plan of action...as Miliner would be a bit of a stretch (even more than Geno), Joeckel would be nice to have...but we'd be paying him #1 money to play out of position at guard (which isn't happening), and any of the other options just don't stand out as guys who could fill holes for us.
