The Kansas City Chiefs signed Dunta Robinson earlier this week and he talked with local reporters to give some insight on how the Chiefs plan to use him.

What position will Dunta Robinson play?]

The new KC Chiefs cornerback told reporters on a Friday afternoon conference call that he came to Kansas City to compete for a starting cornerback job, but that he's open to playing nickel as well. Some have speculated safety but he didn't mention that when asked about his role.

"My role coming is to a leadership role," Robinson, a 10-year vet, said. "I'm coming in here to compete for a job. I'm like everybody else. Make sure these young guys are playing their best football and I'm playing my best football."

Robinson cited the Chiefs six Pro Bowlers as evidence of the talent on the team. Since he agreed to terms, the Chiefs signed Sean Smith, making it even more of a competition at corner.

"I think it will play itself out," Robinson said of the competition at cornerback. "I think the problem we have now is a good problem. Now we have three good corners that can play football. It's a situation I've been in before. We just have to make sure we come together and our goal ultimately is to become the best secondary in the league."

Things can change between now and the end of training camp but it looks like Robinson will be at cornerback or the nickel.
