Moments after it was reported the Kansas City Chiefs were "chasing" free agent cornerback Sean Smith, his agent confirmed that a deal has been done. Smith is now a Chief.

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to terms on a three-year contract with free agent cornerback Sean Smith, his agent reports via Twitter.

As always, I'm curious to see the numbers but this is an upgrade for the Chiefs. Sean Smith joins Brandon Flowers as the KC Chiefs cornerbacks and Dunta Robinson, who was signed this week, will fit in someplace. We're just not sure where yet. But a duo of Sean Smith and Brandon Flowers sounds pretty good right about now.

This becomes even more important with the Denver Broncos signing Wes Welker, giving the Broncos one of the best sets of receivers in the NFL. The Chiefs cornerback situation got much better in this free agency period.

Smith was one of the most coveted free agents before the signing period began but the market on cornerbacks was slow to get going considering all the talent out there.
