Geno...........again.

I just have to address the Geno Smith subject…….. Again. Even though it’s been talked to death, I hope that the powers to be (Dorsey and Reid) are handling this right and until I know otherwise, I do assume that they are. I’m definitely not claiming that I have all the answers but regardless of what happens, the Chief’s need to come out of this with at least two or three other draft picks. As we all know, the purpose of drafting in the reverse order of finishing is so that the weak teams will get better and like St. Louis last year, at least obtain and pile up some extra picks. We’ve allowed the media to tell us that there really is not anyone, especially QB’s that are deserving of the number 1 pick so as Chief fans, I guess, we’re supposed to be disappointed. Let’s be positive. Going into free agency, there were maybe three or four worthwhile QB’s to go after. Well, it looks like the Chief’s have already gotten two of those leaving maybe Flynn and a couple of other possibilities available. But, not any real good choices if a team is looking for their franchise QB. So, now comes the draft. No one is getting the attention and press that Geno Smith is. Personally, I like him and see the possibility that he may just develop into a great, long term prospect. Who knows, but we all do know that there are several, perhaps many, QB needy teams ranging from Buffalo, Oakland, Phoenix to maybe Jacksonville, Tampa Bay and several others. Chances are that there are several Head Coaches and GM’s that see some great potential in Geno. Remember what happened when San Diego had Brees and then drafted Eli Manning and then made the big trade with the Giants. Well, IMO, the Chief’s have the same opportunity this year. The key is that they have to find the right trading partner. Personally, I believe that the Chief’s could still take Geno and Reid could develop him but either way, it will be a huge error if the Chief’s do not get two, three or even four draft picks based on having the number one pick. If it becomes somewhat clear that KC will pick an OT, then we lose and Jacksonville will have a chance to obtain all the extra picks. It needs to be clear, all the way until draft day, that if the Chief’s don’t trade down, that they just might take Geno themselves and keep him. With so many needy QB teams, we are in an ideal position and we need to make the most of it.
