Look back to when Matt Cassel was picked up, everyone can see the similarities brand new HC and GM. The difference stops there. While Alex Smith has been a mediocore starter his whole career until last year, Matt Cassel was an unknown. He took the reigns for Tom Brady when he got injured and played very well impressively well for a backup. That's all we had to go by he wasn't a bad or good starter in college or in the pros other then that one season and he did very good. We also had a GM that knew the QB personally and thought that he was a great prospect on top of that Matt Cassel was thought to have been picked up for a steal in fact Mchoodie desperately wanted this Matt Cassel. Put aside what we now know about Pioli, at the time everyone thought this guy was a genius. Now lets get back to the present. We pick up Alex Smith, who very well might be better then Matt Cassel but looking at the stat sheet they are basically the same guy, except Smith played for a better team. I know Smith has won more games but was it him that won those games or his running game and defense? Listen I hope we succeed, but i'm tired of being told be a good boy and sit down and support my team when they keep doing the same crap over and over again. I keep getting my hopes up and last year was the worst and getting let down, are we just one of those franchises like the browns (who whooped our butts last year) that will never win a Superbowl in the next 20-30 years because we can't do what's necessary and get a real franchise qb? I mean seriously Chase Daniels and Alex Smith are not gonna get you much I'd rather stick with Matt Cassel if that's the case. EndRant over, thanks for listening
