It's officially official. The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers have both confirmed the Alex Smith trade in a pair of tweets, just an hour into the 2013 NFL free agency period.

At 3 p.m. (Arrowhead Time), NFL free agency was off and free agents are free to sign elsewhere. This also marked the start of the new league year, which means the Alex Smith trade can FINALLY become official.

The confirmations:

The 49ers said via press release:

"We would like to thank Alex for his contributions to the 49ers organization over the past eight years," said 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke. "He is a true professional who represented the 49ers with class on and off the field."

The draft picks are said to be the Chiefs 2013 second round pick (No. 34) and a 2014 conditional third round pick that could flip to a second round pick.

So, it's official.
