Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Adam Zimmer joined the Kansas City Chiefs coaching staff before the 2010 season but he was not retained under Andy Reid and the new regime. Zimmer has since joined his father, Mike Zimmer, in Cincinnati as the assistant defensive backs coach.

Adam Zimmer is headed for a father-son reunion.

The former Chiefs assistant coach will join his father in Cincinnati as the Bengals assistant defensive backs coach. Mike Zimmer, his father, is the defensive coordinator.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said: "Adam is a good young coach with two great experiences already in the NFL. He'll assist our defensive backs coach, Mark Carrier, and I'm very confident he will do a fine job."

Zimmer initially joined the Chiefs before the 2010 season and stayed on for three years.

As an assistant coach we know very little about Adam Zimmer. The one notable news bit that came out on him over the last three seasons was an unfortunate one -- he was arrested on suspicion of DWI after the Chiefs December 23rd game.

Zimmer was the assistant linebackers coach for the Chiefs. Those same linebackers that represented half of the Chiefs Pro Bowl contingent.
