After looking through last year's football previews, I noticed that not one of them picked the Ravens to be the champs. NOT A SINGLE ONE. Now suddenly everyone is up in arms over a trade that hasn't happened, a draft that hasn't happened, and a season that hasn't happened. The old one isn't even over yet, technically.
Is the Alex Smith trade a good one? No one can say until it actually happens on March 12. No one can really say until the results are in from the 2013 season.
I have been a Chiefs fan since '81 and I have seen it all but a Super Bowl win. Right now I would just be happy to see a playoff victory. Do I think Smith can deliver one? Yes, I do. Heck, Elvis Grbac went 13-3 and wrapped up homefield advantage and we all saw how that turned out. I've watched a 'past his prime' Joe Montana march us all the way to the AFC championship. History tells us the only team that wins in Buffalo during January is the Bills.
Last season we were predicted to compete for the AFC West title. Yep, that panned out. We competed, and won, the honor of being the worst NFL team to take the field. By midseason, the Broncos were going to win it all. No one took into account the fact that Peyton needs the Heimlich after most playoff games. By the time the AFC Championship rolled around, the Pats were a shoo in for another SB appearance. How did that work out again?
As far as I can tell, no one can successfully predict the future. So I'm going to calm down and weigh in on all these things (that haven't happened yet) next February. I think my perspective will be much clearer by then. Until then I have two predictions, some guys are going to play some football for some teams and we're gonna kick the hell outta you, you, you, you, you!!!
