________signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1985 after being the first player selected in the 1984 NFL Supplemental Draft. However, the Buccaneers posted 2–14 records in each of _______'s two seasons with them, and ______'s record as starter was 3–16. In his 19 games, he threw for only 11 touchdowns with 21 interceptions while completing fewer than 55% of his passes.

Although his time in Tampa Bay was miserable, San Francisco 49ers coach Bill Walsh was impressed by ________'s natural abilities and felt that his problems were due to the struggling Bucs organization.

Trade to the San Francisco 49ers

The Buccaneers selected University of Miami quarterback Vinny Testaverde first overall in the 1987 NFL Draft because _______ was deemed a bust, and he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers on April 24, 1987, to serve as a backup to Joe Montana. The Buccaneers received 2nd and 4th round draft picks in the trade, which they used to draft Miami linebacker Winston Moss, and Arizona State wide receiver Bruce Hill, (who?).

________ would spend the final 13 years of his career with the 49ers, a stint during which he would become one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, and earn membership in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame in 2005. Proof what a coach can do for a Quarterback

He threw for 16 TDs, 16 interceptions, 2,890 yards and a 74.8 quarterback rating, all improvements over his rookie year. _________ also became the first 49ers quarterback in club history to take every snap from center over the course of a season in 2006. In _______'s first two years in the league, he started 25 games and threw for 17 TD's and 27 Int's.

A great coach similar to Bill Walsh, by the name of Jim Harbaugh, improved ________'s game after just one shortened off-season mired by a league wide strike.

A potential second-round pick later, ______ was acquired by the Kansas City Chiefs who have also just acquired a highly respected, talented coach in Andy Reid. The circumstances are different but the outcome is yet to be determined. Patience is a virtue my friends.

P.S.- You know you're a Kansas City Chiefs homer when you are so delusional you actually believe _____ is equal to Matt Cassel. Cassel was a college tight end. Alex Smith has been in the league 8 yrs and was drafted when he was 20yrs old. "At the NFL combine, Smith recorded a 4.7 time in the 40-yard dash, and had a 32-inch vertical leap. He also earned a score of 40 out of 50 on the Wonderlic exam." All this information was acquired through wikipedia. Also, watch tape on the guy before you claim he is the next Matt Cassel.
