Has Aiken gone over the hill? What is he talking about now? Well, I just read something interesting. It doesn't sound like it's a very sure thing as yet, but at this time of year what is? I just read a blurb from Jason LaCanfora from CBS sports saying that the Raiders might cut ties with Carson Palmer. Really?
La Canfora: Raiders to cut Palmer?: CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora reports that the Raiders could release Carson Palmer this offseason in a salary-cap move. That would leave them with Terrelle Pryor as their starter. La Canfora writes "will the Raiders really want to pay Palmer $13.5 million? I don't see it, though he could end up restructuring to stay." Coach Dennis Allen said recently that Palmer will face competition from Pryor, but he expects Palmer to be their starter.

Here more from La Canfora on this subject.
Well now, that sort of makes things a bit more interesting on the FA QB front don't you think? It sort of sheds light on the fact that the Raiders were giving playing time to Pryor at the end of last season at the expense of Palmer. They wanted to see what they had in Pryor, sure, but does it mean that they are thinking of moving on from Palmer?
If so, they are not making a good move here. Carson Palmer completed over 61% of his passes last year for over 4000 yards. He had 22 TDs and 14 ints. His backfield was all screwed up all season with Marcel Reese getting a huge amount of work because Mr. IR (McFadden) was hurt several games again during the season. Carson is still performing at a very solid level in the NFL. I think we'd be lucky to get him for a stop gap player, considering that we need somebody with his skills on our roster. If he's supposed to get 13.5 million, I seriously doubt he'll want to restructure to much. He went through all that with the Bengals and we know what happened there.
Maybe Carson will be on the open market sooner than later? He's performed better than many thought he would. What say you Chiefs nation? Could Carson be on Reid's radar???
