The 2013 Pro Football Hall of Fame class will be announced at 4:30 p.m. (Arrowhead Time) on NFL Network this evening. The Kansas City Chiefs have two nominees: guard Will Shields and senior nominee Curley Culp.
Will we have another former Kansas City Chiefs player headed to the Hall of Fame? The Chiefs have two possibilities: Will Shields, who we all love, and Curley Culp, a senior nominee.
There are 17 finalists. A maximum of five of the modern-era finalists can be inducted, along with two senior nominees, for a maximum class of seven. Finalists must receive 80 percent approval to get in.
Here are the candidates:
Offensive lineman: Larry Allen, Jonathan Ogden, and Will Shields
Running back: Jerome Bettis, wide receivers Tim Brown, Cris Carter, and Andre Reed
Defensive tackle: *Curley Culp, Warren Sapp
Linebacker: Kevin Greene and *Dave Robinson
Defensive end: Charles Haley and Michael Strahan
Defensive back: Aeneas Williams
Coach: Bill Parcells
Owners :Edward DeBartolo, Jr. and Art Modell
*Senior nominee
The announcement will be made from the media center at the Super Bowl in New Orleans. I've gone to a couple of these and they're really cool. Some of the players that are announced are at the site of the Super Bowl already so they'll be interviewed at the event.
Shields is from the golden era of my Chiefs fandom. I really want to see him get in. Older generation, tell us a little bit about Curley Culp in the comments.
