Jon Dorsey and Andy Reid have been tinkering with the Kansas City Chiefs all season. Dorsey put together 90 players for training camp and a full 40 made the active roster after freaky Saturday, also known as the 2nd 2013 Chiefs players draft.
Quite a maneuver by the new GM, cut down to 53 and then cut 7 of them....
A fifth of the team was brand new to the Chiefs schemes and systems come week 1 vs the Jacksonville Jaguars. One week to prepare for them and just one off-season for a large number of the rest of the Chiefs roster.
The Chiefs came out roaring vs the Jags, and then sputtered, coughed, and sputtered to a 9-0 start on the season. Pretty good for a team not quite in sync. Then came the truth, as the Chiefs came up short for 3 weeks straight.
Andy continued to tinker with the Offense, while Sutton and Toub continued to work on the Defense and Special teams.
Then came the Washington game. Snow and sleet and the Chiefs roared of the line once again. on to sunny California and the Chiefs did not step back like early in the season. No barely won game in Oakland. It was a blowout, pause, and another blowout all in 60 minutes of game clock.
The Chiefs are ramping up their play at the right time.
Now the Indianapolis Colts come visiting Sunday. The reeling Colts and their attached ambulance attempt to slow down the almost completely healthy Kansas City Chiefs in our regular season home finale.
The Colts have a huge target on them. The next team on our schedule and a fired up Sea of Red to bring out the best in the Chiefs players.
I look for a Big Offensive output and the Chiefs Defense to Lock down some as we continue to build for the 2013 playoffs.
