No surprise: Jamaal Charles named AFC offensive player of the week

Jed Jacobsohn

The NFL named KC Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles the AFC offensive player of the week after his five-TD performance against the Oakland Raiders.

In what must quality as the least surprising news of the year, Kansas City Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles is the AFC offensive player of the week. The NFL made the announcement this morning but for anyone who paid attention they didn't need an announcement to confirm. Charles was THE highlight of Week 15 as he scored a whopping five touchdowns, four of them through the air.

Jamaal's final line on the day: 8 carries, 20 yards, 1 rushing TD, 8 receptions, 195 yards, 4 receiving TDs.

For the season: 246 carries, 1,181 yards, 11 rushing TDs, 65 receptions, 655 yards, 7 receiving TDs.

Since we knew this was coming, we have little to add. Read over the stories we've written about Jamaal this week.
