One national NFL writer has made a few Kansas City Chiefs fans angry: Pete Prisco. The CBS Sports writer has gotten himself a bunch of attention by tweeting out "The Chiefs are the worst 8-0 team ever" and then the following week tweeting out "The Chiefs are the worst 9-0 team ever". Yeah, it's to be an attention-grabber and, yeah, we're falling right into his plan by responding to it but whatever. I'm a fan and I'm allowed to be angry at someone.
Alex Smith was on 810 WHB this week and Soren Petro asked him about Prisco's words. Alex said he had no idea who that guy was and that he didn't care.
Ha.
Speaking to the KC media, Alex expanded on those who debate the best team in the NFL after nine weeks.
"The funny thing is," Alex said, via quotes from the Chiefs, "a little bit I feel like what are we even talking about? There's a system in place in the NFL to find out who's the best. It's the 16 game season and it's the playoffs. To be speculating right now, nine games in, who's the best and who's not is just talk.
"They don't give any trophies out after nine weeks, and we understand that and all the talk of any of that is just talk. It's pointless in my mind. It has it set up to find out who's the best and that's our focus, just one game at a time, one week at a time until we get there."
That's the attitude the Chiefs will need moving forward. With each win, the next game becomes bigger and the target on their back becomes bigger. That's the price of winning, something KC Chiefs fans don't know a whole lot about based on recent seasons.
While we're here, I'd also like to point out...
