We know the offense is out of the running this week let’s just get that out of the way. This week’s Arrowhead Award is going to the defense as a whole. This group is elite plain and simple. If I were to tell you the Chiefs don’t get a sack and dominate defensively you’d have a hard time believing it. It’s a really good sign that this team doesn’t need to get sacks to cause turnovers. Marcus Cooper broke up three passes and forced a fumble that was returned for a TD. Sean Smith broke up two passes and returned a pick 100 yards for a TD. Kendrick Lewis, Dontari Poe and Mike DeVito all recorded 9 tackles. There isn’t one player making the play each week it’s a group effort. A great thing about this defense is its ability to adjust. They gave up a big vertical play for a TD early. Following, with the exception of a 26 yard flare pass to C.J. Spiller, the long pass play allowed was 13 yards to Stevie Johnson. The defense bent in the third quarter before returning the interception for six. 9-0 is perfect regardless of how you got there.
