Andy Reid has done a masterful job of getting the Kansas City Chiefs to 9-2 on this 2013 season. Football Outsiders have the Chiefs as a 99.7 percent chance of a 2013 Playoff spot. They also say the Chiefs have a chance to win 11.8 games this season. This was all after a 2-14 season in 2012.
Andy Reid must have put together a ton of Awesome Sauce to bathe the Chiefs in to make such a turnaround?
How did he do it?
Football Outsiders ranks the Chiefs signal caller Alex Smith -6.4 on their call on his ability over the average QB. Less than average... Certainly not up to the Peyton Manning +36.7 or about 21 other QB's as they see it.
Football Outsiders ranks the Chiefs Running back Jamaal Charles +6.5 on their call on his ability over the average RB. Just better than average... Certainly not up to the Knoshawn Moreno or about 12 other RB's as they see it.
Football Outsiders ranks the Chiefs Wide Receivers as a group less than -4 on their call on their abilities over the average WR. Not a single WR is better than average... Certainly not up to the Broncos WR's as they see it.
Surprisingly the Football Outsiders have the Chiefs #1 in Run Blocking for the Chiefs Offensive line. We are 26th in Power running thought? The thing we do well is not get stuffed, 4th in the NFL in that. Compared to the Broncos who come in #6 in Run blocking. Pass Blocking is a whole different story. Denver #1 and the Chiefs #23.
How the Hell do we have the same record as the Broncos even after they gave us one loss?
Has to be one damn dominating Chiefs defense, Right?
The Broncos Defensive line is ranked 3rd and the Chiefs 11th, The Chiefs pass rush is ranked 5th and the Broncos 23rd. A draw?
Special teams. The Chiefs in Football Outsiders belief garner 6.6 points per game in hidden points caused by special teams play, The Broncos 17.5 points.
I love Stats and even interpreted Stats, but how the hell is Andy Reid doing it?
