Tamba Hali plans on playing in Chiefs-Broncos game

John Rieger-USA TODAY Sports

Tamba Hali, the Kansas City Chiefs linebacker, injured his ankle last Sunday. But he could end up playing in the Chiefs-Broncos game, according to Andy Reid.

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said on Wednesday that Hali has a good chance of playing on Sunday against the Denver Broncos despite his sprained ankle, according to the Star's Terez Paylor, who reports that Hali did not practice but did go through the walk through.

Also this:

This is all good news for Tamba. If the Chiefs are talking about him playing on Wednesday, you gotta think he has a legit shot to play on Sunday. Or else Reid wouldn't have opened the door to him playing.

It was reported earlier in the week that Justin Houston is unlikely to play this weekend. So that means Hali being available becomes that much more important. The Chiefs not only need Tamba to play, they need him to play really, really well. Peyton Manning is one of the best in the NFL at avoiding sacks so this is obviously a tall task, especially since the Chiefs outside linebackers didn't record a sack in the first game against Manning.

So, things can change, but it sure looks like we could see Tamba playing but Houston sitting.

Can the Chiefs compete with the Broncos if they have just Hali?
