Peyton Manning is a Cyborg. Technically he is a member of the Borg. I would assume that Neiiiiigh John Elway will continue to graft parts onto Peyton as long as he can. New Knees and Fetlocks, maybe. John Dorsey has made taming Manning his personal mission this season and well, we got bucked off the 1st time. Back on we go for another attempt to settle the fivehead from Denver.
John Dorsey has to be evaluating the needs of the Chiefs for 2014. I would say that Manning is still going to be the Target of what we do and why. It makes sense. To be the best you have to beat the best.
So who might we add to make that happen?
29. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Austin Seferian-Jenkins, TE, Washington: Alex Smith is leading the Chiefs to wins but his lack of ideal arm strength forces Kansas City to dink and dunk its way down the field. As such, he requires difference-makers around. Seferian-Jenkins hasn't had the 2013 campaign many envisioned but his blend of size, body control and soft hands make him a matchup nightmare.
Tight End is the Chiefs greatest need?
29. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina: The Chiefs offense needs to add more playmakers that will help produce explosive plays. Since Tony Gonzalez left a few years back, Kansas City has struggled to find consistency at the tight end position, but Ebron would give them a talented athlete with a high NFL ceiling.
Seems CBS is unanimous on that position.
Walter Football thinks maybe something else.
Kansas City Chiefs: Cameron Erving, OT, Florida State
The Chiefs just spent the No. 1 overall pick on the disappointing Eric Fisher, but they'll need a bookend for him once Branden Albert moves on. If you don't think Kansas City would draft two consecutive offensive tackles with its first-round picks, well, remember who's making the decisions now.
Pick change; previously Antonio Richardson, OT
So Bookend 1st round Offensive Tackles. John Dorsey, Walter, John Dorsey is making the picks.
32 KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: ZACH METTENBERGER, QB, L.S.U.
Even though the Chiefs just recently surrendered a premium draft pick to acquire Alex Smith it might already be time to start thinking about the long-term future of the quarterback position. After all Smith is nearly 30-years-old and the jury is still out as to whether he is anything more than an average starter. If we don’t know by this point the answer is probably "No". There could be a number of signal callers competing for a spot in the back end of round one but Zach Mettenberger of L.S.U. is currently generating the most buzz. A classic pocket passer with a large frame and very strong arm, Mettenberger is finally fulfilling his vast potential as a senior under the tutelage of Cam Cameron
and shooting up draft boards. If Mettenberger continues to progress and has a strong showing at an all-star game he could even come off the board much earlier than this. Others jockeying for position with Mettenberger include Johnny Manziel of Texas A&M, Derek Carr of Fresno St., A.J. McCarron of Alabama and Tajh Boyd of Clemson. Kansas City is also in need of a wide receiver to team with Dwayne Bowe so that's a strong possibility too. Other options could include an inside linebacker, a free safety or a defensive end.
NFLDraftCountdown has another position in mind and obviously a week slow on changing their Mock:(
24. Kansas City Chiefs - Brett Hundley, Quarterback, UCLA:Since we're assuming the redshirt sophomore will declare for the draft, UCLA's Brett Hundley deserves consideration in the first round. Despite an inconsistent season, Hundley's physical ability is obvious. He can make all of the throws with the zip and anticipation to be a franchise passer. He needs to become more consistent in his reads, decision-making and accuracy to put it all together, but Kansas City may be the perfect place for him. The Chiefs could let him sit until he's ready while Alex Smith plays out the final season of his contract.
While SBNation was a week early in deciding the same thing. Maybe?
Is the Offense going to tame Peyton Manning? Must you outscore everyone to be the best in the NFL......
What the Chiefs need is the original #29
