Coach Reid's Monday Follow-Up from The Mothership
I say this after winning and I'm going to say it after this loss, I do appreciate the fan support. When it came down to that last drive, they were all in. I do appreciate that from a coach's standpoint. It was a crazy day in football, when you can have six games in the National Football League come down to the last 50 seconds, you understand the intensity of the games at this time of the year and the parity within the National Football League. We were one of those six. We have to make sure that we take care of our game and learn from this. There were some good things, during the game, and there were some things that we can definitely learn from and we will learn from.
Mixed News On Injured Chiefs Defenders Hali, Houston from FS Kansas City
It wasn't the best-case scenario. But on the plus side, it wasn't the worst-case for Kansas City Chiefs fans, either.
An MRI revealed that Pro Bowl outside linebacker Tamba Hali suffered a "slight" ankle sprain in Sunday's 41-38 defeat to the San Diego Chargers, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said today. The coach was relieved that it wasn't a high ankle sprain, as had been initially feared.
The latest word on the Chiefs' other star pass-rusher, though, was more inconclusive.
Eric Berry: "We Have To Step Up To The Plate" from The Mothership
The hurt that coach Reid is referring to was collectively felt by every Chiefs player in the locker room, after Sunday's loss, including Pro Bowl S Eric Berry.
"It makes me angry that we lost," Berry said. "Our offense played a heck of a game and they put up a lot of points; we have to do our part. They bailed us out so many times; we have to step up to the plate and make those stops for them and when the game is on the line, we have to be able to do things. It didn't roll our way, but we'll get a handle on it. I'm sure our coaches will have something in mind for us and we'll work on that this week."
"We really haven't started to focus on Denver yet," defensive end Tyson Jackson said. "We're trying to finish clearing things up from the San Diego game, see where we messed up at and try to correct some of those negative plays."
Offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz, who drew the start Sunday at right guard in place of an injured Jon Asamoah (shoulder), echoed Jackson.
"It's Monday, it's early, we just got done with the Chargers film," Schwartz said. "I'm sure as the week goes on, it will build up."
Derrick Johnson: By The Numbers from The Mothership
When DJ takes the field in front of the Arrowhead Stadium crowd, he wants all the fans to know how much influence they can have against the opposition.
"They help us a lot," Johnson said. "The crowd is our 12th man. It's an opportunity for the (opposing) offense to be flustered, not get their checks and help to make some things not to go perfect on the offensive side of the ball. The crowd helps us out on defense and we get after the quarterback pretty good here at home and we're looking forward to being in that situation."
Chiefs Cheerleaders Alumni Weekend from The Mothership
Each year, the Chiefs host an alumni weekend, celebrating those who have worn the skirt, waved the poms, and sported the white boots on the sidelines at Arrowhead Stadium as Chiefs Cheerleaders.
Former, as well as current, Chiefs Cheerleaders talk about a bond that they share, describing it as a strong and unbreakable bond between each of the women on the squad. During alumni weekend, it was evident that this bond truly is never broken but can last through the years.

Dan Meers (KC Wolf) In Recovery Monday Following Weekend Injury from FOX4KC
Meers was severely injured Saturday while rehearsing for Sunday's performance, which reportedly involved a zipline.
Meer's wife, along with Chief's spokesperson, Ted Crews declined to talk about any of the injury specifics, but said he is making progress with his recovery and that his long-term prognosis is good.

A friend of Meers, Rod Handley tweeted an update on his condition: "Thanks for prayers for Dan Meers (KC Wolf). Successful back surgery today & recovering well. 25 family & friends were at hospital praying."
Reid Updates Hali, Houston Injuries from ESPN
Houston and Hali both went to the Pro Bowl last season and have 20 sacks between them this year.
They were replaced Sunday against the Chargers by Frank Zombo and Dezman Moses. Zombo was signed as a free agent in the offseason from the Green Bay Packers. Moses joined the Chiefs at the start of the regular season as a waiver claim from Green Bay.
LB Moses Has Replaced A Pro Bowler Before from ESPN
"It wasn't good enough,'' said Moses, who in 43 defensive snaps was credited with just one tackle. "I like to be realistic with myself. I didn't even need to watch the film to know that. I'll have to do a better job this week. It's always tough when you get thrown in a game like that. You don't expect two guys to go down like that in one quarter. But that's part of the game.''
Chiefs' Tamba Hali Has MRI Of Ankle, Juston Houston's Elbow Still Swollen from USA Today
Other NFL players have returned several weeks after a dislocated elbow. Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt hurt his elbow in training camp last year and missed the majority of the preseason but played the entire regular season while wearing a brace on his elbow on his way to defensive MVP honors.
Chiefs, Broncos Must Get Over Bitter Losses Quickly from USA Today
Andy Reid felt like his heart had been ripped out. Jack Del Rio wondered, on the long flight home from Foxborough, if the sun would indeed rise over the Rocky Mountains.
These two men on Monday hardly sounded like the head coaches of the two teams with the best records in the AFC.
Yet this is the reality Reid and his Kansas City Chiefs and Del Rio and his Denver Broncos face this week - balancing the disappointment of brutal losses on Sunday with the bigger picture ahead. At 9-2, both teams almost certainly will make the playoffs, and both still have a chance to win the AFC West.
Kansas City's Fasano, A Former Dolphin, Takes Big Gain On Sale Of Fort Lauderdale Home from The South Florida Business Journal
Anthony Fasano is more of a possession tight end in the NFL as opposed to a big play threat, but he scored a big gain on the real estate field by selling his Fort Lauderdale home for more than double what he paid for it.
Medical Reports Front And Center For Reeling Chiefs from The Associated Press via The St. Joseph News-Press
Reid sounded less upbeat about the prognosis for Houston, who landed awkwardly on his right arm while chasing down a play shortly before halftime.
Reid called the injury a subluxation of the elbow, which is essentially a minor dislocation of the joint, and said he wasn't surprised that he was unable to have an MRI exam Monday.
"It swelled up. You could see it after the game," Reid said. "They tried to keep the swelling down but you could see it was puffing up a little bit after the game when we were in the locker room, and then overnight it swelled up even more. I get it. I understand how that works."
Jack's Smack: Chiefs Have No Chance Of Winning The Division from KSHB
I'm alluding to their chances of winning the division. I give them zero chance of that.
We need to accept the fact that they're playing for a wild card. That's a tremendous accomplishment.
No one, not one of you, really thought before the season began, this team would make the playoffs.
Mike Pound: If The Dog's Upstaris, The Chiefs Must Be Losing from The Joplin Globe
See, Shilo hates it when I yell at the TV. I think Shilo hates it when I yell at the TV because she's a dog and probably doesn't really understand the concept of television.
When I yell at the TV, Shilo thinks I'm yelling at her and not at the Kansas City Chiefs defense, which managed to give up roughly 56,000 points to the San Diego Chargers on Sunday. For Shilo to understand that, she would have to understand the concept of TV and football, which would probably be asking a lot from a dog.
Del Rio: "Full-Speed Ahead" Toward KC from DenverBroncos.com
On if they'll have to call on the younger running backs if Moreno is not full-strength this weekend
"We'll continue to call on our guys. I think Knowshon yesterday was outstanding. It was a terrific ball game on his part and with the O-Line blocking for him. We continue to bring the young guys along and they'll continue to get time and if need be more time. I'll let (Running Backs Coach) Eric (Studesville) work through his group and (Offensive Coordinator) Adam (Gase) work through the rotation with Eric. We'll continue to work those guys, develop those guys, and do believe they can help us as we go through the year."
The Week In Overreactions: 'The Chiefs Are In Trouble' from CBS Sports
We hear a lot about teams peaking down the stretch; the Ravens did it last season and theGiants the season before that. The Chiefs appear to be going in the opposite direction, though with five weeks left they can certainly rewrite that script.
But even if they go, say, 3-2 and finish 12-4 in the regular reason, that brings us back to our original question: Are the Chiefs a legit playoff team? And by that we don't mean "Can they make the playoffs?" because they could lose out and still have a good chance at the wild card. But can Kansas City make some noise once it gets to the postseason?
A confluence of events suggests not.

Based on the way he's performing this early in the season, it looks like Charles is on the verge of topping his receiving yards from last year and we think his pre-game anthems have something to do with it.
