There were two notable gaffes near the end of the Kansas City Chiefs 41-38 loss to the San Diego Chargers.
The first one was the timeout Andy Reid called with 1:28 left on the clock and the Chiefs at the 5-yard line. We'll talk about that one a little later.
The second gaffe came when Philip Rivers hit WR Seyi Ajirotutu for a 26-yard touchdown with 24 seconds remaining. Sean Smith and Quintin Demps were in coverage with Ajirotutu just a step in front of a reaching Smith.
Demps wrote on Twitter after the game that he is taking responsibility for that play.
What a week, This one hurts. Please do not give Sean Smith a hard time fans. That play was on me! RIP T Howard I love you

("T Howard" could be Thomas Howard, the former Raiders LB who passed away last week.)
Apologies for the blurry photo, but here's the play:
Andy Reid said the Chiefs had a safety (Demps) over the top on the play and a cornerback (Smith) underneath, attributing the play to a perfect pass from Rivers. Demps, obviously, doesn't feel that's the case. As you can tell, he's a step behind the receiver.
Kudos to Demps for taking the blame publicly but the end result is still the same. The Chiefs lost.
Update: Rodney Harrison's take...
NBC's Rodney Harrison said the blame for Chargers final TD should go on Chiefs coaches for that coverage
