The Kansas City Chiefs are set to face a tougher-than-their-record-indicates team on Sunday in the Buffalo Bills, who are 3-5 on the season. Not many Chiefs fans are taking this game lightly, recognizing that if not for a couple of last second touchdowns by the opponent, the Bills could easily be 5-3 with wins over potential playoff teams.
But an 8-0 team such as the Chiefs facing a 3-5 team, you'd expect the line to be higher than the 3-point favorites that the Chiefs are.
Here's where that line gets interesting.
According to RJ Bell of Pregame.com, this is just the second time in the last 25 years that an 8-0 team playing a team with a losing record is NOT favored by more than three points.
I see that as a little bit of respect for Buffalo and a little bit of an acknowledgement of how the Chiefs have been winning their games. This isn't a 45-points-a-game type of offense so you're not going to see the enormous lines with the Chiefs that you might with the Denver Broncos.
I suppose if the Chiefs are going to be playing in a lot of close games, I'm glad they're a very good fourth quarter team.
