Raiders vs. Chiefs 2013: Records, stats and notes for the Week 6 game

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The KC Chiefs are setting a lot of team and NFL records with their surprising 5-0 start. Find a round-up of some records and stats below as the Chiefs prepare to face the Oakland Raiders.

Chiefs aim for 1st 6-0 start since 2003 (9-0)

As AP user kcchiefskicka points out, that 9-0 start included a lot of "lucky" plays such as special teams touchdowns. The Chiefs are doing the same thing this year, scoring on defense and special teams. Lucky or good?

Besting this all-time Chiefs record would mean winning out from here up to the first Broncos game in Week 11.

Chiefs are 1st team in NFL history to start 5-0 after losing 14+ games in previous season

The Chiefs are really setting the bar high for future teams. The 1980 Detroit Lions were as high as 4-0. The Chiefs are either playing MUCH better than they should or they played a LOT worse than they should have last year. Or a combination of both.

Andy Reid is 1st Chiefs head coach to open season with 5 straight wins in 1st season with team

Awesome stat. First year, first 5-0 start.

KC (+10) has best turnover ratio in NFL

The most important stat of the year. This is the reason the Chiefs are 5-0. The good news is that they've also had games where they have made mistakes (Giants, Titans games) yet were able to overcome those and still win.

It's amazing that the Chiefs went from a historically bad turnover season to leading the NFL. How often does that happen?

Since 2011, QB Alex Smith is 24-5-1 as starter with 37 TDs vs. 13 INTs for 92.6 rating.

Yes, the team matters. There's always more context needed. But, man, that is a hell of a winning percentage. Maybe this Alex guy is actually contributing to wins and not just "getting lucky"?

Alex Smith is 2-0 as starter vs. Oak. and has 5 TDs vs. 1 INT and 104.7 rating

They played in the preseason, too, so he has some familiarity with them. That's an excellent rating. Alex has had a 100 rating 16 times in his career. He is 14-1-1 in those games.

RB Jamaal Charles 28 catches this season, tied for 2nd-most among NFL RBs

Danny Woodhead leads the NFL with 31 catches BUT Jamaal has 30 more yards than him. As usual, Jamaal is doing more with less.

WR Dwayne Bowe has 2nd most career receptions in Chiefs franchise history (432)

The problem? He's still 484 receptions away from Tony Gonzalez, which shows you just how amazing Tony G. was. Oh, by the way, Tony G.: Not coming to KC.

WR Donnie Avery is averaging 85 receiving yards per game in the past 3 games

Last week it was 3 receptions for 91 yards, with two big 40-plus yard receptions. The week before he was quite against the Giants with just 23 yards receiving. His biggest game of the season was in Philly in Week 3 with 7 receptions for 141 yards. A lot of YAC in that game, too.

Since 2012, LB Justin Houston is tied for 3rd in NFL with 18.5 sacks

Beast. 8.5 sacks is currently second in the NFL behind the Colts' Robert Mathis (9.5).

LB Tamba Hali  has 6 career sacks vs. Oakland

Tamba or Houston, one of them is blowing up against Oakland.
