Thoughts on Oakland vs. SD

I just got done watching the Oakland vs. San Diego game. Here are a few thoughts of mine after watching it.

  1. Nothing about their team scares me outside of Pryor extending plays and running around for some yards.
  2. Pryor is easily confused and doesn't go through progressions, so we should be able to confuse him by taking away his 1st read.
  3. Oakland's O-Line doesn't look all that amazing. I'm sure it's ok, but an 'ok' O-Line vs. arguably the best front 7 in the league spells trouble for them.
  4. Poe should have another monster day. The interior of the O-Line looks suspect and I flat out say their center get pancaked once.
  5. Keep Pryor in the pocket! When his 1st read isn't there he looks to scramble, but when SD was able to maintain lane discipline and keep Pryor in the pocket he couldn't get out. He'd take his eyes off his receivers and try to find a place to run, which was nowhere. So he would get confused and couldn't figure out what to do. So the key is to confuse him with coverages and simply keep him in the pocket. He panics at that point, which our D will feast on.
  6. He likes to throw it deep, so we can't let the big pass play hurt us. We have to force him to nickel and dime us, but I don't think he can do that all game without making some mental mistakes that lead to turnovers or them punting.
  7. SD was able to move the ball on them, but just beat themselves. Lots of penalties. Failed to get a TD when they were 3rd and goal from the 1 yard line at the end of the 1st half. They muffed a punt and got a field goal blocked. They got a fumble returned for a TD. SD just played sloppy. They had a delay of game after a timeout in the game. Just dumb stuff.
  8. Pryor didn't do much of anything in the 2nd half. So we just need to duplicate that game plan.
  9. Lamarr Houston is a guy we need to watch out for. Albert will be on him thankfully.
  10. They have a new punter. I think McCluster will have some chances at some returns this week.
  11. SD hurt them a lot with short passing, which plays perfectly into Alex Smith's strengths.
  12. Overall, we have the talent to win this game by 2 TD's, which is our average point differential this year.
  13. Prediction is a 24-10 win by us.
  14. We owe the Raiders some payback! No more wins at Arrowhead for them!
