Well here we are Chiefs fans, for the second time in the past four years the Chiefs stand as the lone unbeaten team. Skepticism abounds everywhere outside of Kansas City but the only stat that matters at the end of the day is the zero in our loss column.
Making things MUCH sweeter is the sweet sweet tears of Bronco fans in their butt hurt rage quest to try and pull us off of our high horse, I wanted to take some time to trample on their hate parade and ramble on about other things if you don't mind.
Best lame argument as to why the Chiefs aren't good.
"Their defense is the best in the league but that offense will eventually catch up to them." This is freaking gold we are allowing just over eleven points per game which is pretty damn close to the record the Ravens set at just over ten back in 2000. Meanwhile the Chiefs are right outside of the top ten in terms of points per game (sitting pretty at 13).
Meanwhile the Broncos who right up until this week were being crowned super bowl champions have a far more concerning discrepancy between their offensive and defensive units. Obviously they sit first in terms of offense but are a horrid 27th in scoring defense.
Put simply if you average twice as many points as you give up? You're going to win.
The Chiefs are the 2009 Broncos?
Were the Broncos on pace to shatter records defensively at this point? Were they coached by a seasoned veteran who is among the few coaches to have a 60% win margin through more than a decade of coaching? Were the 2009 Broncos starting a QB who had been a part of similar systems that rode all the way to the NFC Championship game.. twice? The answer to all questions are the same, NO.
Funny though, the 2009 Broncos were 6-1 at this point in the season thanks in large part to a coach who couldn't make adjustments, and a QB whose flaws many had figured out in the two games leading up to their first loss..Sound familiar?.. Just sayin.
Flashes of brilliance in the Houston game
The offense can show up when we need them to. Going up against a stout defense Kansas City moved the ball when it needed to and never fell behind in the game despite the defense being put on their heels initially. It seemed like once the defense decided to show up the offense was all "peace see you next week!" This is a sign of a well coached team, through seven weeks there hasn't been a game where the Chiefs weren't in total control most of the game.
Big ups to Eric Fisher
Is it possible that we're about to see a Berryesque mid season turnaround from our #1 pick? Fisher (with a little help from his friends) stuck it to JJ Watt this week. Yes he did get beat a couple times but this was easily his best game of his career.
What does it tell me personally? I think Fisher is going to be the type of lineman who never gets overpowered by a bull rush. Hopefully with time he can be a guy who stops the finesse type rushers he's been having issues with.
Sorry so short but that's all I got for now. GO CHIEFS!
