Is Alex Smith the problem? Or is it something else? OLine, Play calling, Big Red?

After going through all the games. First looks like a little bit of everyone is the problem. The OLine needs to help Alex Smith out a little bit more. Interior OL needs to get nasty and Fisher well a rookie but lets lock it up. UGH growing pains!

But the bigest thing other than that is no audible at the LOS. Only when KC is doing the hurry up.

Alex Smith moves the ball the best when they do the hurry up. Go and look for yourselves. Also KC hasn't been doing that as much for some reason as they did in the beginning of the season.

With Smith I don't see him able to change the plays on the field after they huddle. He is only able to call protection for blocking or flip running plays away from the blitz. Unless all the WR can mind read because the only time Smith does tons of hand singles is in the hurry up. Also there has been times Smith saw the blitz coming and didn't call a hot route. Also there has been a hand full of times it looked like Alex knew the play wouldnt work, dropped back and just took off running. Or said no way and called TO.

So now I understand whats going on with Big Reds comment "I don't think I did a very good job of putting guys in a position to make plays," Reid said to the media on Monday afternoon.

Looks like Reid is calling the play and Alex has to run it even if he see something better. Smith if able to call audibles he could help put what hes got on the filed in better positions too.

Smith is smart and can run a offense but with the comment and watching tape KC is not using the most out of Smith yet.

I understand its a new system and you dont want to put to much on a QB but I hope they let him do what he does best and read the D and run the best play right before the snap....

Reid said. "I thought Dennis called a good game on the defensive side. They did a good job of rolling their coverages and their secondary looks. I've got to do a better job with helping with the calls."Alex said after the game that THEY (instead of saying we or even I) couldn't get a beat on what the Raiders were doing"

I hope they give Alex Smith a little more flexibility with the play calling sooner than later.
