Without This Defense, Is This A 6-0 Team?

Good day fellow Chiefs fans! I haven't written a fan post in a very long time (some may remember me from when I was writing there) and I figured there is that one issue I need to address and I'm not entirely sure how anyone else feels about it.

I'm not sure if this is an offense or just horseshit. Maybe the play calling is just terrible. Maybe the plays are terrible? Who draws up these plays? To be frank, our offense is almost horrible.

  • Alex Smith can't seem to hit the long throws (Avery had his man burnt yesterday on a pass that Alex overthrew by about 1 yard). And he missed on a couple of the deep routes during the Giants game too.
  • The run blocking this year is garbage. Maybe it is due to the run blocking scheme in use?
  • Without this defense, this is a 2-4 team, at best.
  • Eventually, other teams' defense will learn/start to defend Reid's Dink-N-Dunk offense.

Don't get me wrong, I am ecstatic that the team as a whole is winning. Winning is what matters. My concern is when will the offensive line open up holes for the run game? When will teams implement a full scale defense against Reid's short passing game? I must have a level head and a realistic mindset. How can Reid fix the struggling offense? And the final question is, can Reid see that the offense is just not very efficient (at moving the ball gloriously) or is he just as stubborn as some Philly fans have described him as and is oblivious to it?

Here's my take. Andy Reid needs to find an offensive line coach. He also needs to look at the tape from last season and see how the line was blocking. Jamaal is too consistent to be having on off year in terms of yds/game and yds/carry...or is he? Maybe the OL Coach Andy Heck just isn't a very good line coach (OL Coach, Andy Heck). The pass blocking also doesn't appear very strong. Alex Smith seems to have very little time for routes to develop and every pass must be thrown immediately to avoid a sack. These areas of blocking need work. Is it possible I'm missing something (Andy Reid's WCO, by BJ Kissel)?

I love our defense. No screwing around. No funny business. Plain and simple ass-kicking, face eating, kung-Fu chopping, reverse DDT-suplex-back breaking defense. QB's fear facing our defense. If they say they don't, they're lying. No man in his right mind would take our defense for granted. They are what we see every Sunday. They are the heart and soul of this 6-0 team. Without this defense...well, we're the 2012 Chiefs all over again. Ok, not that bad but more like 6-10 Chiefs. I applaud our defense every game for giving us the better odds of winning.

We have so many great guys on's as if every single one of them should be Pro-Bowlers.

Special Teams

Special teams are holding up solid and prove every week that they came to play. No complaints. That dept. is being handled very well and are performing well.

The end result is a win (every week so far). That is the most important factor in any sport. Winning. The Chiefs are winning, and in the end that's all I care about.
