Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Sutton Style Defense

Since we are facing Fitzpatrick this weekend, I went ahead and looked up Fitz's performances against the Jets the last 3 years. Since Sutton is running the Jets style defense, I figure this will help us predict Fitz's performance this Sunday.

2012

Week 1 - 18 for 32 for 195 yards. 3 TD's and 3 INT's - Loss

Week 17 - 12 for 26 for 225 yards. 1 TD and 0 INT's - Win

2011

Week 9 - 15 for 31 for 191 yards. 1 TD and 2 INT's - Loss

Week 12 - 26 for 39 for 264 yards. 3 TD's and 0 INT's - Loss

2010

Week 4 - 12 for 27 for 128 yards. 2 TD's and 0 INT's - Loss

Week 17 - Fitzpatrick did not play

2009

Week 6 - 10 for 25 for 116 yards. 1 TD and 1 INT - Win

Week 13 - 9 for 23 for 98 yards. 0 TD's and 1 INT - Loss

Total Stats

2 Wins and 5 Losses vs. the Jets since 2009

102 for 203 attempts. 1217 Yards. 11 TD's and 7 INT's.

Averaging 15 completions / 29 attempts (51.7 completion %) and 174 yards for 1.6 TD's and 1 INT per game.

Conclusion is that Fitzpatrick has struggled against the Jets D. He has a losing record vs their style of D the last 4 years. He's barely completing over 50% of his passes and out of 7 games only threw for more than 200 yards twice. He won one of those games and lost the other. His TD to INT ratio is less than ideal as well.

I don't know if this trend will continue, but if he is 15 for 29 for 174 yards with 1 or 2 TD's and 1 INT, then I really like our chances in this game.
