The latest on Andy Reid's coaching staff and other Chiefs rumors

Matt Kartozian-US PRESSWIRE

Andy Reid is in Kansas City but the question is who's coming with him. Here's the roundup of the latest rumors and reports surrounding the coming Chiefs coaching staff.

We'll officially be introduced to Andy Reid at a Monday press conference for the Kansas City Chiefs. One of the first questions for Reid will be who will be on his coaching staff.

Peter King of SI.com has some insight on that in MMQB:

I'm hearing he's leaning toward bypassing Marty Mornhinweg as offensive coordinator and naming his Eagles quarterback coach, Doug Pederson, as coordinator. Had he not been kept as Carolina head coach, Ron Rivera would have been in play with Monte Kiffin for defensive coordinator ...

These are all names we've heard before.

Several reports have said Marty Mornhinweg is unlikely to be the Chiefs offensive coordinator so barring a surprise you can begin to rule him out.

Doug Pederson was the quarterback who started during Andy Reid's first year in Philly in place of Donovan McNabb (which drove Philly fans crazy). He was most recently the quarterbacks coach for Reid's Eagles.

Ron Rivera is a name that's come up before, but he's returning to Carolina to coach the Panthers.

And then there's Monte Kiffin. We've definitely heard of the reports that Reid is interested in Kiffin, it's what prompted this terrific piece from KaloPhoenix on what the Chiefs could look like in a 4-3 defense coached by Monte Kiffin.
