Andy Reid is the Kansas City Chiefs new head coach and reactions to the hire are staring to spill in. The latest one comes from a familiar name to Kansas City Chiefs fans.

The Kansas City Chiefs got their man, officially hiring Andy Reid on Friday night. It's a done deal.

There are a few interesting connections here if you step back and look.

Reid was advised by former Chiefs coach Dick Vermeil before accepting the Chiefs job. Reid comes from the same organization that once employed former Chiefs coach Herm Edwards.

Another former Chiefs coach you all may know (and perhaps miss), Marty Schottenheimer, chimed in on the choice, calling it a "spectacular" hire.

Via USA Today: "I think it's a spectacular choice," Marty said. "I honestly think it's important to get a guy who's done it, who's been there. He's got the DNA for putting together successful teams, and he was able to sustain success over a long period of time."

That's great to hear. Does it mean the Chiefs will win? No. But ask yourself this: do you really want to go against what Marty says? No, you do not.

One of the other interesting nuggets in the USA Today report was Schottenheimer admitting that he consulted with Hunt in some sort of advisory role during the Chiefs coaching search.

"I definitely didn't have anything to do with the decision," Schottenheimer said, per USA Today. "But I gave my opinions."

So Marty had some sort of role in the process, even if a small one.
